It is heartening to see that AIADMK supremo J.
Jayalalitha has been sentenced to five years
rigorous imprisonment (RI) in two cases relating
to the TANSI land deal.
If such a hi-fi leader can be convicted
for her culpability, it would only set a good
precedence and restore the faith of the people in
the judicial system of our country.
When she was elevated to the post of Chief Minister
of Tamil Nadu, she had a golden opportunity in her
hands to do something in return for the people who
had showered utmost love and affection on her.
Instead, she betrayed her people and the state by
grossly misutilising her powers for her own benefits
indulging in as many as forty-six corruption cases!
This verdict has not only finished her political career
but has also spelt doom for her party which solely
depends on her charisma to survive.
"We reap as we sow",
Jayalalitha has duly paid the price for her
wrongdoing, for which we have no regrets.
