Why to be a Scientist?

If we wanted any incriminating evidence to see how
scientists in our country are maltreated, the case of
Prithwish Sain (a scientist in the Bhabha Atomic
Research Centre) is the best instance to prove this
point. The very fact that Sain was even ready to take
the extreme step of committing suicide shows the
degree of desperation and despondency which has crept
into him following the gross injustice meted out to
him by his authorities. If a developing nation like
India wants it's work to be recognised at the
international level, it's scientists have to play a
pivotal work making extensive researches and making
new inventions. But, unfortunately politics has
permeated even into our scientific field, which has
rendered a new and fresh talent go a complete waste in
such a despicable fashion. Is this the way scientists
should be treated like unwanted commodities by being
mercilessly beaten by security guards and rendered
homeless without even following proper legal
procedures? India, is perhaps the only country in the
world where a person would regret being a scientist!
